Chewacla State Park

124 Shell Toomer Parkway

Chewacla State Park's 696 scenic acres offer plenty of rest, relaxation and recreation, just a short drive from the Auburn-Opelika area. Facilities include a 26-acre lake, swimming area, playground, a modern campground, picnic areas with tables, grills and shelters, cabins, hiking and mountain biking trails. Lake Chewacla is perfect for reeling in bream, bass, crappie and catfish or taking a dip off the beach area. No luck in the lake, then try one of the park’s two creeks. There is no boat ramp on the lake, but visitors are allowed to bring their own small non-motorized watercraft such as canoes or kayaks if they can be hand-launched from the bank.

This was our first camping trip and we absolutely loved it. Each camper sits is shaded with enough distance between them so that you dont feel like you are stacked on top of each other. Staff was super friendly. And best of all it is pet friendly.

Pretty nice setup. The park is nice and clean and it gives you that welcoming feeling. It's not over done and crammed with activities. There are cabins which makes for a great get away. There is also a waterfall, but based on my visit, it appears you have to walk to it.(for give me if I'm wrong [I am from Georgia] so not an everyday place for me to visit). My experience was great and the young lady at the gate is awesome (6/24/18 Visit)

This is a very nice well maintained park. My grandson and I rented a paddle boat to go out on the lake for an hour but because of the heated came back in before our hour was up. There was nobody to help us when we came back in and we would have had to sit and wait on someone to help us chain the paddle boat and get out safely if this very kind man had not helped us. That is the only reason it didn't receive five stars.

I went for the first time to take my children to attend a birthday party at the lake. The scenery was beautiful and swimming in the lake was a lot of fun. The diving platform was in disrepair, though. I plan on coming back again this summer for hiking and biking as well. The mountain bike trails look amazing!

It is a good place to visit with family. The only thing there was not soup in the restroom. I had an extra in my backbag so it was not a problem for me. But it is important.
