Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park

2921 Scouts Rest Ranch Rd

Home of famed showman scout William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody, Buffalo Bill Ranch SHP at North Platte recaptures the life and career of the famed Pony Express rider, Army scout and buffalo hunter turned showman.

The house was built during the Cody's profitable venture, the Wild West Show, and money for development of the ranch and Cody's other interests was plentiful. No expense was spared in building and furnishing the ranch, and visitors will see many interesting features.

Buffalo Bill's Ranch, known as Scout's Rest, became a state historical park in 1965. Since then, the house and barn have been restored and a wealth of Cody memorabilia has been acquired and placed on display.

For a one night camping stop it was okay. The grass was overgrown, weeds were tall, online map is completely wrong for 50 amps. I don't know why people like this tiny campground. Went to take the dogs out for a walk and the local Leo's were outside running all the plates. Well, if you have nothing better to do. As we go to leave the next morning a horse trailer was blocking the drive. Even after honking the group of people didn't move it. Seriously? North Platte is just awful.

Enjoyed our time camped at this beautiful state park. Has a small beach. Petting zoo is adjacent to the park. They have 30 and 50 amp, water spigots not very convenient and no dump station. Our site #2 was great. It was leveled, gravel driveway, spacious, fire pit, grill and table. No shade. Evenings were delightful. OTA was good, Verizon and Sprint worked well. Great history and museums. Shopping and restaurants nearby.

This is a great example of housing and the life and times of the old west and Buffalo Bill Cody. Lots of well displayed artifacts, furniture, photographs and film. A very engaging and polite employees. Courtney, the house director was full of enthusiasm and great information. Recommend it to everyone coming through North Platte Nebraska!

This is one of the nicest done historical sites I’ve recently visited! You definitely will learn some and enjoy actual Cody items.
