Bradbury Mountain State Park

528 Hallowell Road
207-688-4712

Bradbury Mountain State Park is a wonderful place to spend a day or afternoon exploring trails, taking in the magnificent view from the summit, or enjoying a picnic under a canopy of trees. One of the original five state parks, Bradbury Mountain was acquired by the Federal government in 1939.

Situated on Route 9 about halfway between Portland and Lewiston-Auburn, the park attracts visitors who enjoy picnicking, hiking and camping on its 800 acres of forested land. Bradbury Mountain is the only state park in southern Maine to offer shared-use trails for horseback riders, mountain bikers and snowmobilers. Snow shoe rentals are available.

This is a great place for short hikes with the family. Our 6 year old had no problem doing the summit hike and the 3 year did with minimal assistance. The trail is steep and there were some bumps and bruises. There is a great playground at the bottom and clean picnic area with clean out house style bathrooms.

We joined the Feathers Over Freeport Bird walk on Saturday morning and even though the weather was gray and cool, we had a wonderful time! What a beautiful place! The Rangers are all very friendly and the park is easy to get around.

Great short hike for people of all abilities. Most people will probably be out in an hour or so depending on how long you want to take in the view. Beautiful view at the top. Dogs are allowed.

Nice park, close to the city. Not a challenging hike or particularly remarkable (other than the view of the ocean from the top) but great opportunity to get out into nature. Would be 5 stars if the entry price was less steep
