The 5,900-acre Bald Eagle State Park is in the broad Bald Eagle Valley of northcentral Pennsylvania. The 1,730-acre lake laps the flanks of Bald Eagle Mountain, surrounded by forests, fields and wetlands. With two campgrounds, boating, fishing, swimming, the Nature Inn, and diverse habitats that are excellent for wildlife watching, Bald Eagle State Park is a great destination in the heart of Pennsylvania.

Recreational facilities are a result of a cooperative effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources-Bureau of State Parks.

Lake is great. Campground is more open layout, not a tree covered area; so you will easily see your neighbors. Restrooms were spotless, plenty of hot water. The loop I was on had two cabins and two Yurts, they looked great. This park has a hotel on site, great views of the lake. Hotel is NOT open to non guests for anything. Because the park is near Bellfonte and State College, rain days were still worthwhile; we simply explored the two towns. June 2018, the park office is being renovated. FYI.

Bald eagle State park modern campground, sycamore loop has nice size camping sites. The beach area is large and well taken care of, they have jet ski, kayak, canoe, and bike rental. 1 of my favorite places for family fun. Some picture I took from the walking bridge located in the sycamore loop camping area

They have a very nice place to swim, the water is not to cold. Bathroom and changing area right there. We where also able to cookout at the beach area. They have a beautiful hotel there. My husband and I may stay there for a night or two this fall.

We have only made use of the hiking trails, beach and swimming area with our grandkids. The park, including the restrooms, have always been well maintained. The pavilions are rented from 8a to 8p. It’s a shame because even if a party that reserved one only needs 4 hours in one it still can’t be used. (I suppose people who don’t clean up after themselves could trash a pavilion beforehand if the policy was changed.) In any case, the Park has some beautiful vistas and and offers fantastic opportunities for families wanting to put down the screens and experience the outdoors in physical reality rather than virtually.

An absolutely beautiful park. Being here is like being in a tranquil paradise. I highly recommend visiting Bald Eagle State Park any chance you can. The only downfall is a notorious Water Conservation officer that is a complete prick and escalates even the simplest situations. Just make sure you abide by the rules at all cost. I’ve heard of people running into him and never wanting to go back. Other than that, it is a seriously beautiful place and should be appreciated and used by every outdoor-loving citizen!
